Flowery stuff

Georgie's asked how the garden's going. Told her "fine, still seems to be there." Then she asked to see some pics. Rattled off a few yesterday morning before the afternoon's deluge. Clouds rolled in, the sky turned black and the rain bucketed down. Took a few more snaps this morning. The pouring rain battered the few poppies that had opened so they look a bit bruised çe matin. However, others have now opened and are currently enjoying some sunshine. The rain also battered the irises and I've had to prop one back up with a stick. In one of the shots of the blue flowery things, you'll notice they've all flopped outwards in a circle with the central bit open to the elements. This isn't due to the plant getting tired and having a nap, but simply because it got flattened by one of the snowstorms in May that I mentioned in a previous posting. Due to all this recent rain, the weeds and lawn have shot up. Would have attacked the lawn with the lawn mower but the damned thing's being repaired. Popped in there about a week ago and asked when it'd be ready. "Soon," they said. Mind you, they said the same thing about three weeks ago when I dropped the mower off with them. Borrowed Christian's mower last Friday and had a go at slaughtering the triffids. Exhausting work because the stuff was thick and damp. I now have a mammoth pile of damp grass out by the woodshed which, hopefully, will disappear when I get around to starting a bonfire. Need a lot more sunshine before that happens though.

  1. Nice floral photos today.
At least you got the chance to finish cutting your grass. I dare not take my electric trimmer outside when it's wet, so I'll suffer the long grass until the sun peeks out again, and dries up the earth a bit.
Hope you get your mower back soon.
Nice new header. I'm now working on putting a header on my blog...wish me luck.

    1. So you get rain out where you live too! Choosing a header photo is tricky. I keep changing mine because I get bored with looking at the same old shot. Hope your new header goes well. I'll take a look.

    2. I ended up changing the entire look of my blog.
See what happens when I start one project? Suffice to say the lovely sunset photo header that I had envisioned is no where in sight.

    3. Had a quick look at your bloggo. Looks very good. However, if you want to add a header photo, I think you click 'design' at the top bar, then click 'layout' on the left of the revealed page, then click 'header' and another box should open where you have the option of uploading a photo from your computer, then when it's loaded click 'save' and that should give you a header photo. When that's done, I click 'header' again (by going into 'design' and 'layout' again), then click on 'advanced' which gives you options to change 'title' size, typeface and colours, and also 'title description' which, I think, means subtitle, plus various other otions. When that's done click 'apply to blog' or something similar, and see what comes up. It's all a bit trial and error but if I can do it, anyone can. If you're a bit scared of losing your whole blog, simply start a new one as a trial run, get the hang of all the design options, then when you get it right simply do the same with your main blog and then delete the trial run one. Fun and games.

    4. No, I got it wrong. To change 'title' size and colours, click on 'design', then 'template' and click the orange(?) coloured box that says 'customise', then 'advanced', then you can start experimenting.

  3. I like your new header as well. Should change mine again but it takes me forever to get right, so I think I will leave it alone for the moment! Hope you get your mower back soon.
