Latest painting

Had a few sunny days lately so I dug out my old painting gear and wandered off to the old orchard alongside the cemetery run. Took the dogs, of course, which was a bit of a nightmare 'cos they get bored easily (bet Van Gogh never had that problem). It's great up there when the late afternoon sunlight catches the moss-covered branches and the spindly smaller branches that light up almost white against the dark green of the pines behind. Absolute nightmare to paint, not only because it's all so complicated, but also because that dramatic evening light only lasts a short time. Took about five evening sessions and it's still not right, but it'll have to do.

  1. I am very impressed, I think this is a great painting and the old tree has so much character. Well done Diane

    1. Jolly good. Am going to make a few changes in an attempt to get it right. Could be disastrous but it's gotta be done.

  3. I like your paintings Tommo, they look original and have life. Hope your head has healed after your bump. Hope you keep that paintbrush well used. And I do like that photo of your house. Every time I come and read your blog it has the same effect. It just looks a nice place to be.

    1. Thanks Vera, your comments are much appreciated. Extremely chuffed you like my paintings. Hope to do some more just as soon as it stops blasted raining! I have to have sunshine 'cos everything looks a bit grey and dull without it. Head bump has shrunk but I reckon the scab just might be there forever! Glad you like the house photo. Have to admit the interior doesn't quite match the impressive (well, to me anyway!) exterior. Still, it's home and it is indeed a nice place to be... most of the time. Your place is coming on a treat. Boogie on!

Wish I could paint like that myself.
